Ways and Means

The Conejo Valley Mother's of Multiples club is a non-profit organization that supports mothers of multiples. We keep our annual dues lower by offering various fund-raisers throughout the year. The vice-president(s) of Ways and Means head up the fund-raising events by offering fun, supportive events that provide value to the community and our members while raising additional money for the club. Approximately 1/2 of the club's annual budget is raised with these events. We encourage our members to participate in at least 2 events during the year to help us raise money and keep our dues low.
CVMOM's BIGGEST ON-GOING EVENTS - year after year after year .... |
ANNUAL DINNER AND SILENT AUCTION - JUNE
This event is over 37 years in the making now! A long tradition of CVMOM's that usually raises the lion's share of funds for the Ways and Mean's committee. A dinner is held (usually on the first Saturday night of June) with an auction. The silent auction often includes over 100 items, ranging from spa services to baskets of toys to home interior items. A live auction is also included with high-ticket items like vacation get
always, family photo settings at Westlake's top studios or tickets to sporting events.
How can you help?
- Mark your calendar now for the first Saturday night in June and attend the dinner/auction.
Come out, have fun, enjoy yourself and buy stuff! Help gather donations for the silent auction (ask your regular shop keepers for donations, your hair dresser, dentist, vet, etc.) (*NOTE - the 1st Saturday night in June may not always be the date for the dinner/auction, so look for more information in the monthly newsletters, or contact 2nd Vice President/Ways and Means for more information.
- Offer to be on a committee for the dinner or
auction ( we need help with decorations, putting baskets together, etc.)
MONTHLY SUNSHINE RAFFLES
Each month at the social meeting (the first Wednesday of the month) we raffle off great prizes. For only $1 you get 3 tickets and can win a prize (or sometimes, your choice of several prizes!). An example of the prizes include a huge picnic basket of beautiful blue/yellow china with table cloth and toys for the kids; gift certificates for several things (massage, yoga classes, hair cuts, dinners at Applebee's, appetizers at California Pizza Kitchen, passes for skating, etc.) It's a fun, easy way to support the club each month for only $1 and a chance to win, win, win!
How can you help?
- Bring a dollar or two and buy raffle tickets.
- Win, Win, Win!
FAMILY ADDRESS LABELS
As an on-going fundraiser for the
club, you can order address labels for the family. Everyone can
use return address labels, so why not get them through this site and
earn some cash for CVMOM (30% for each sale!)
ANNUAL FAMILY PHOTOS - OCTOBER At a location to be determined, a professional photographer comes to take family pictures of CVMOM members and anyone that you invite. For an $8.00 sitting fee you will
receive a 10 x 13 color photo. Additional photos and packages are available. Contact 2nd Vice President/Ways and Means for more information and watch the monthly newsletters for more information.
How can you help?
- Pay the $8.00 and make an appointment.
- Tell all your friends.
HOLIDAY SHOPPING BOUTIQUE - NOVEMBER
Right before the holidays, we offer a shopping boutique (usually at the November social meeting, the first Wednesday night of November). Bring your shopping lists and get a TON of shopping done without the kids hanging on to you! Usually in attendance are a wide variety of home-based businesses (often CVMOMs themselves -- we try and support one-another). Last year's event included: Pampered Chef, Discovery Toys, PartyLite Candles, Creative Memories, Tupperware, etc. as well as several ladies who make home-made gifts. This year we plan to add vendors who offer skin care items,
jewelry, ladies clothes, kids clothes, purses, home decor, etc.
How can you help?
- Show up and shop! The vendors donate 15 - 20% back to the club.
- Be a vendor.
ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS - SEPTEMBER
An on-going, annual tradition is the Entertainment Books. We usually have these available at the September or October meeting. These are HUGE books of coupons that get you two-for-one dinners, free passes to local entertainment (golfing, skating, theaters), etc. The books usually run about $15 - $20 and you can easily make that money back by using just one or two of the hundreds and hundreds of coupons.
How can you help?
- Buy a book for yourself. Buy a book for a friend (mother, babysitter, gift, etc...)
- Offer to bring a stack of books to work and sell them for the club
SEE'S CANDY SALE - HOLIDAY TIME
Another tradition is to buy See's Candy for the holidays. (The packing might not be exactly what you see here.) We usually take orders in November (at the social meeting and through the newsletter). Then we deliver them to you at the December meeting. Another EASY way to shop AND support the club!
How can you help?
- Get your office or business to buy their vendor gifts through CVMOMs. This is a BIG help!
- Order a box or two of See's candy for the holidays -- they come wrapped and ready to give!
GARAGE SALE AND KRISPY KREME DONUTS - OCTOBER AND MARCH
The club holds two garage sales a year (usually (but not always) in October and March). This is a great benefit for club members as you can sell all of your tons and tons of kids stuff and clear out your house! It is open to MOMs and then to the public. It is an excellent way to obtain clothing, toys and accessories at a fraction of the price of buying new. Many items are in very good condition and are perfect for twins and triplets. Plus, you make money and a small portion goes to the club. (Please contact the person on the board of directors who does garage sales for full details). However, if YOU don't want to do all the work involved in the garage sale you can ALSO donate your stuff and we'll sell it for you and then the club makes all the money. This is a really painless way to support the club and get all that old stuff out of your house. We will even come and get it at your house. Easy, fast, and it makes $$ for the Club.
How can you help?
- Participate in the club's garage sale or donate your stuff and we'll sell it.
- Buy Krispy Kreme donuts at the garage sale. Take a box home too!
