Infants & Strollers

Go Girl!  You can do it…Even without help!

.

Be sure and check with your doctor about when you can safely go out. Preemies may need to wait a bit longer before being exposed to too many germs and people. You will want to be especially careful in the colder (late fall, winter, early spring) months due to the cold and flu season. Low weight babies and preemies can be susceptible to RSV and other challenges, so if you have any hesitation, it might be best to go out alone and leave the babies with dad, grandma or a sitter, or to isolated areas (smaller, neighborhood parks; keep blankets over the whole stroller so people don’t look in or touch them, etc.). This time passes quickly, so don’t fret if you have to keep away from people for a little while.

Don’t forget that you can go out with one baby! Use a single stroller, a Snugglie or backpack or just carry the little darling in your arms. Leave the other babe with daddy or grandma and enjoy a 5 or 10 minute walk or a full blown grocery shopping trip alone. People won’t mob you with only one baby! Its amazing.

If you WANT lots of attention (and that can be fun) then by all means dress them alike and show them off. You will be mobbed. It can be a real ego boost. Enjoy it while they are little, because as they get older and look less alike (or are running in 2 different directions) people won’t know they are twins and the looks and comments will seriously decrease.

List of Places

  1. The Oaks Mall is easy and fun to stroll around — don’t expect to get any real shopping done. Enjoy it if you do! (Your stroller will fit in many of the stores and can make it down the wider isles of the department stores).
  2. The Janss Marketplace can be fun in good weather, the babies will enjoy the sights and sounds of the water features. Plus Toys-R-Us is located there.
  3. The Ronald Reagan Library can be a peaceful place to stroll and have a snack outside the cafe over looking one of the most beautiful views in Conejo Valley. Added bonus, the docents are often sweet on babies.
  4. California Lutheran University grounds are very pretty and peaceful and have lots of great paths that accommodate a double stroller nicely. If you want to avoid the students, go in the early morning, during the weekend or in summer (many of the paths are shady in summer).
  5. There are some lovely paths and a bridge at Conejo Creek Park that are great for strolling. The babies will enjoy the water features and the ducks. This park can become a nightmare once the kids won’t stay in the stroller, due to the duck poop and the creeks.
