New Walkers
Go Girl! You can do it…Even without help!
.
.
When your babies begin walking, they will want to practice, practice, practice! Your job is to find big, soft, flat places for them to try. The bonus is if you wear them out, they will take a good long nap or two that day.
Hints to Make it Easier
NEVER leave home without hand & face wipes!
List of Places
- Try and get hooked on CVMOM playgroups. Better yet, host one and enjoy the company of another MOM or two. Baby proofed houses are one of the best options for this stage. So share your home and try and find another friend or two who will do the same with you.
- NOW is the time (or earlier even…) to sign up for Horizon Hills parent participation classes. Get on the waiting list now. These classes become VERY full and impossible to get into for the 2 – 3 year. They are one of the few places that allow you to go with twins and only 1 parent.
- Jungle Land is great for 6 months to 6 years old. Often very empty in the afternoons and busy during the morning but watch out for days with extreme weather. Air conditioned!
- Gymboree Play & Music
- Kidnasium, in Simi Valley is just like Gymboree. Hint: the owners have twins so they don’t charge for the second child.
- Oaks Mall playground on the bottom floor of the Oaks Mall there is an enclosed play area with smaller, climb-on toys. It can be fun for those learning to walk and climb on things.
- Ronald Reagan Library sounds like a weird place to go with new walkers — but it works with two! There is a big court yard out front (that is like a big play pen). I often brought my twins there when they wanted to practice walking. I could keep an eye on both and they could walk, walk, walk. At Christmas time, its all decorated and pretty with trees and lights. I didn’t go inside — just used the court yard.
- Any large, flat, grassy area that is away from traffic. The best Conejo parks for this are:
Old Meadows Park and Thousand Oaks Community Park, the baseball fields behind the park are fenced in.
